O Grande Amor - Joao Gilberto featuring Stan Getz

Haja o que houver, há sempre um homem, para uma mulher.
E há de sempre haver para esquecer, um falso amor e uma vontade de morrer.
Seja comofor há de vencer o grande amor, que há de ser no coração, como perdão pra quem chorou.

“No matter what, there is always a man for a woman.
And there will always be a false love to forget and an urge to die.
Be that as it may, love’s greatness will win over the heart and the one who cried will forgive.” -
(English translation from WordReference forum)

I always like this song, and this type of jazz -not too mention fall in love with portuguese language ever since-, since I was little because my mom always played this type of jazz. She has quite a lot of bossa nova CDs, mostly brazilian bossa nova. The name Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stan Getz, Luiz Bonfa, Joao Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, among many others are so familiar in my ears. I love their songs.

This song reminds me so much of childhood. When I was laying around reading my comic books, and mom sat in front of her computer, typing her thesis but at the same time she was cooking lunch for my brother and I. This song reminds me how simple life was and hard life is now as I get older.
